Learning Objectives

  • Delve deeper: place the physical practice (asanas) within the context of a bigger picture: Patanjali’s 8 limbs as a guide for ethical living (yamas and niyamas)
  • Think critically about modifications so you can respond and teach to the bodies in front of you.
  • Build confidence to safely and effectively teach more than 50 asanas.
  • Integrate your cues to respect breath, harmonious flow and accessible language.
  • Sequence for a particular effect and with particular themes; not just from memorization
  • Understand functional anatomy and how it relates to the practice of poses and sequencing of classes.
  • Teach basic restorative poses, meditation, pranayama, kriyas, mantras, and chanting.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of fundamental texts of hatha yoga and of the historical and philosophical context of our practice.
  • Deepen your own personal asana, pranayama and meditation practice
  • Become more aware by accessing sensation and proprioception.
